Learning unit contents
The TransitionS seminar offers students an interdisciplinary perspective on the systemic transitions needed to inscribe our economies in a socially and environmentally liveable space, as described by the concept of the "Doughnut Economy" (Raworth 2017).
Organized in the form of directed readings, the seminar will address tipping points and analyze the systemic causes of critical situations. It will connect students with different transition initiatives and enable participants to build their own understanding of the conditions (at individual, corporate and institutional levels) that are conducive to transitions.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of this course, students will have been specifically led to:
- Understand the concept of transition at the level of the economic system and at the level of individuals and enterprises/institutions
- Link tipping points to circumstances of market failures and state failures (local and supranational)
- Discover transition initiatives in different social functions
- Identify the conditions of the transition (Multi-level perspective)
