Learning unit contents

This course aims to develop the students' skills in scientific English (namely their note-taking and responding ability in lectures in the field of biomedical sciences) .
It is an advanced ESP course (CEFR) levels C1 for listening and note-taking skills, B2 for speaking).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The purpose of this course is to teach the students how to take notes efficiently during a scientific lecture in English or learn how to read / present a scientific paper in order to 
(1) be able to answer accurate questions 
(2) be able to write an abstract 
(3) be able to answer to specific questions
(4) be able to present a journal club

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Pratique de l'Anglais Scientifique  (compulsory scientific English course in 3rd year of the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences) or equivalent (e.g. IELTS 6 or Cambridge Advanced English A- C).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Several learning methods will be used

(1) Large group seminar for writting and listening skills

(2) Journal Club with tutor

(3) Online seminar for writting and listening skills
