Learning unit contents

View on the arts of the palaeolithic hunter-gatherers.The plastic expressions are described in their technologies, iconography, chronology, with a review of the different interpretations proposed during nearly a century. At the end the students will have a good undertsating of a complex phenomenon that lasted about 20,000 years.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The course consists of a panoramic presentation of these different expressions, then propose a series of methodological approaches permitting to interpret them in coherent and logical terms. Nothing, in fact, is random in Palaeolithic art, where style, schools and phases can be distinguished.
