Learning unit contents
This introduction to land surveying present in a broad way all the surveying operations (levelling, traversing, survey, setting out) and the associated instruments (levels, theodolite, total station).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- to get a basic knowledge of surveying operations and practical methods - to get a basic knowledge of the instruments - to be able to organise a small surveying work - to be able to exchange with geomaticians
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The course assumes good knowledge of basic mathematics: geometry, trigonometry, as well as of some elements of general physics: optical and electronic mechanics.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
In addition to the theoretical course, practical work sessions are organised (problem-based). These will include field work such as a closed levelling, a traverse and a tacheometric site survey and a setting out.

Additional information:
Each field work session will be the subject of a written report which is graded. A written examination is organsied and eventually, an oral examination is organised. The whole evaluation process is described in the course's overheads.
