Editorial communication workshop (part II)

Illustrated with numerous examples, this workshop focuses first on the paratext elements specific to book covers. It then looks at the basic principles involved in creating a press service, whether aimed at professional journalists or other intermediaries. Finally, it explores the possibilities offered to publishers in terms of advertising and direct promotion in bookshops and on social networks, taking into account the specific features of each channel. The practical side of this course involves students redefining the cover paratext of an existing book (to be chosen from a list provided by the teacher), and designing its promotional campaign. The final product will consist of a dossier containing original creations (back cover text, press release, publications adapted to social networks) and descriptive elements for all aspects of the campaign strategy and promotional elements too specific to be physically produced.
