Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
THIS COURSE WILL NOT BE ORGANIZED IN 2021-2022.
The main topics addressed in the course are the following :
- Schwarzschild's solution in Kruskal coordinates
- Spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models
- The Kerr solution
- Derivation of Einstein's equations from an action principle
- Complements of differential geometry and the vielbein formalism
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Students will develop both theoretical and practical knowledge of more advanced concepts of general relativity.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course consists in theoretical lessons covering the content described above. The exercise sessions will allow the students to illustrate this content, and in particular to get familiar with typical calculations in general relativity.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Distance-learning, in English.
Recommended or required readings
Evaluation methods will be defined and clarified depending on the evolution of the covid-19 context.
Work placement(s)
Organizational remarks
The exact modalities for the organization of remote lessons (virtual platform, access codes) will be communicated to students by e-mail.
The will consist in 10 hours of theory and 10 hours of exercises.
