Learning unit contents

In this course, different evaluation techniques of child's functioning will be introduced to the students. The main principles of the clinical evaluation in children's will be recalled. The interview techniques (non-directive, structured, semi-structured), observation (naturalist, controlled) and questionnaire (self-administered, hetero-questionnaire, social desirability) will be developed in more details. Research methods in developmental psychology will be discussed: different types of studies and techniques (strange situation, A non B errror, habituation, visual preference, operant conditioning, etc.). Then Several assessment tools in child psychology will be presented. This will provide a working basis for the practical work in which the student will have to assess a child and his family using these different tools. An assessment report will be produced.

The main objectives are - to practice using different psychological assessments for the child and the parents - to use them with a family - to write an assessment report.
