Learning unit contents
The seminar in philosophy is organized every year around a choice - which is to be made before September 30 - between two or three parallel seminars dealing with different topics.
In even years, seminars are organized in the following fields: Phenomenology; Political and social philosophy; Philosophy of science.
In odd-numbered years, seminars are organized in the following fields: Aesthetics and critical theories of culture; Ontology.
In 2022-2023,
-the Phenomenology seminar will take as its theme "Value of subjectivity";
- the Political and social philosophy seminar will take as its theme "Revolutions";
-the Philosophy of Science seminar will take as its theme "The irruption of non-humans into the scientific and political spheres".

Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Conceptualization and problematization of a fundamental question in philosophy; in-depth mastery of theoretical contents both in the history of philosophy and in contemporary issues.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Undergraduate philosophical education. Passive command of the English language.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Collective work on a philosophical theme through readings, lessons and talks as well as discussions.
Phenomenology Seminar
The seminar takes place in the form of a one-week workshop, organized in April or May 2023 and preceded by several preparatory sessions (see schedule in attached document). The sessions are led by different speakers and aim to create favorable conditions for the setting up of fruitful personal readings and reflections among the participants.
Political and Social Philosophy Seminar
The seminar will be held every Thursday of the first term (from October 6 to December 15) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. NB: The session of December 5 will exceptionally take place on a Monday.
Philosophy of Science seminar
The seminar is organized around a few sessions which students are required to attend.
These sessions will take place on the following dates:

It will mainly be face-to-face teaching, but some presentations could exceptionally be made online depending on the health situation or the remoteness of a speaker.
Recommended or required readings
Phenomenology Seminar
Five papers, chosen from the list mentioned in the appendix, have to be read in preparation for class sessions (see schedule) and one paper has to be presented in class. All readings are available in an online folder.
Political and Social Philosophy Seminar
A detailed bibliography will be communicated to students during the first session of the seminar.
Philosophy of science seminar
A list of readings will be provided to the students during the first session.
