Learning unit contents
This course aims at preparing the students to scientific reading and writing in Romance Studies.
Firstly, the students attend to ex-cathedra presentations, on the following topics:
- bibliography
- disciplinary trends, theoretical paradigms and methodological frameworks
- how to read a scientific text?
- how to write a scientific text?
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of the class, the students will be able to plan by themselves a graduate thesis in Romance studies.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
To have acquired the necessary credits in Romance Languages and Literatures to access this Bac3 course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is given face-to-face only,
- following an ex-cathedra format for its first part,
- following a seminar format for its second part.

Additional information:
The course is subject to an individual written assignment on source research and disciplinary identification in French literary studies and linguistics. The student will be required to submit an individual written work during the session, with a total length of between 5,000 and 10,000 characters. This work consists of designing and formulating in french two TFE projects, one in literary studies, the other in language sciences. In a continuous text articulated in paragraphs, the aim is, for each project
1. the formulation of a research topic, situating it in particular within the major disciplinary orientations concerned
2. justify the interest of the project;
3 retrace the genesis of the questioning;
4 integrate 5 relevant references into your proposal.

The course takes place on 2nd Term only, on Mondays, from 11AM to 1PM, classroom "Petit Physique".
