Learning unit contents

The theoretical part of this course will focus upon:







  • the definition of synchronic linguistics;
  • the parameters of the fields of phonology.
The practical part (active part) of the course will familiarise students with the concepts covered in the theory course and will assign exercises. Data from other languages will also be used as illustrative materials.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the general theoretical notions and the basic concepts of phonology and morphosyntax covered in the class. Students will also be able to identify phenomena that remain problematic wrt this analysis framework.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

It is required that the students have good skills in grammatical analysis of French.
