Learning unit contents

After a historiographical introduction, the methodological approach will include the vocabulary and methods applied in building archeology. We will see the preliminary studies to be carried out as well as the various survey techniques. We will descibe the steps of the work as well as the tables and databases for recording information. We will discuss the programs that can be used and the relevant data for building analysis. Secondly, we will retrace the evolution of building materials, their characteristics and techniques. The theory will be complemented by case studies and visits.

To have a overview of today methodology in building archaeology and preparatory architectural investigation in the restoration of historical buildings.
