Learning unit contents
Overview of artistic productions of the 15th and 16th centuries in Western Europe: important examples, chronological marks, contextualization. Introduction to the analysis of monuments and works, and to their interpretation from a historical perspective.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Basic knowledge of the significant landmarks in Western European Art of the 15th and 16th centuries. Introduction to the analytical and interpretative methods of Art History. Learning of specific terminology.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
None, other than the general requirements for the study of History of Art and Archaeology and the abilities expected of a Master student in Philosophy and Letters (for foreign students: sufficient knowledge of the French language).

Recommended or required readings
No syllabus. The table of contents, list of artists mentioned and various useful pieces of information are available on the "suppports de cours" tab. Studying will also be based on the book mentioned above.
