Learning unit contents
This course offers a practical application of the main models and techniques used to model how the global performance of an organization is generated and controlled and to make it more reliable. It focuses on the strategic management of the organization from the perspective of optimizing its performance and its level of long-term sustainability and shows which tools it can use to ensure that it achieves its long-term objectives.
It is composed of 3 themes covered in 6 sessions:
- The first theme is devoted to the strategic management of organizations and is based on Simons' control levers model and Kaplan & Norton's strategy map on the one hand, and on the exercise of performance control from a sustainability perspective on the other.
- The second is devoted to performance management in an industrial environment specifically and is based on models inspired by the COSO, Lean Management and World Class Manufacturing frameworks.
- The third theme is devoted to the dynamics of organizational change for continuous performance improvement in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world and is based on the managerial models of organizational change of Kotter and Burke & Litwin on the one hand and on the organizational life cycle approaches of Quinn, Cameron & Rohrbaugh on the other hand.
Each of the 6 sessions is prepared and presented by groups of 3 students, in the form of a webinar (one paper presented by each student).
In addition, as the course progresses, groups of 2 students prepare and then defend a 360° audit of the organizational performance of a concrete case, integrating inputs from the 3 themes presented. This analysis is conducted in a real company before being presented and defended during the oral exam.
