Learning unit contents
After a return to the classics on the subject in the social sciences, we will focus on the main axes of what could constitute an anthropology of capitalism. To do so, we will study some of the analytical avenues that have been followed by anthropologists to think about this issue. These analytical avenues will be exemplified and developed by the teacher's own research in D.R.Congo and elsewhere.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To introduce students to the key issues of economic anthropology. At the end of the course students will be able to present how these issues have been approached in the discipline, and to propose research directions for analyzing the dynamics of capitalism from an anthropological perspective.
