Programme content
The Master's programme includes :
The core of the training: five courses created for this Master's programme that provide the orientations and principles: rurality, global changes, socio-ecological systems, transition management, ethics and development;
A portfolio of elective courses in geography, science, economics, etc., allowing each student profile to complete and/or reinforce their Bachelor's degree in the fields necessary for the continuation of their programme
A 6-week full-time internship;
A range of thematic courses related to the management of natural environments and landscapes and to elements of bioengineering and geography;
A group project in response to a real order from a rural stakeholder;
A specialised aim.
The "New agricultures and short circuits" specialisation is provided by Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech.
This specialisation focuses on the development of innovative agricultural sectors that provide goods and services and respect the environment with a view to local marketing.

Learning outcomes
By the end of your Master in Smart Rurality, you will be able to:
- identify complex problems with scientific, societal and human implications;
- identify and understand the approaches of the different disciplines involved in these problems;
- communicate with specialists and local community stakeholders;
- use and design procurement, modelling and data processing tools to develop innovations which will support participatory processes;
- work with others to build compromises with a coherent vision, geared towards action.
