Learning unit contents
The lessons are given in English and will describe political life, actors and institutions in the United States with a specific focus on democracy.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, students will have a good knowledge of the main institutions (Federal and federate States), the main actors and the main ideological divisions in the United States. A specific focus will concern the issue of Human Rights, foreign policy and international relations.

The course consists of three parts.
- ex cathedra courses during which students are invited to participate;
- case studies and questions that students must answer by mobilizing the concepts studied.
- Reading texts and articles (references will be given in class).
In this sense, attendance at the course is important and recommended.

Additional information:
The course is ex cathedra. It is also structured by reflection and discussion sessions between students. They are required to answer specific questions by mobilizing the concepts studied.
For some chapters, reading an article or a speech is recommended by the teacher.
The evaluation is in three parts:
- participation in class during the sessions;
- the production of a written work and the presentation of this work to the class;
- an oral examination on the material covered during the year.
