Learning unit contents
The main goal of this course is to introduce students to the systemic approach to the study of psychopathology and to guide them through exercises to put into practice the knowledge acquired.
Course content:
- psychopathology from the communication theory perspective;
- theoretical models of pathological functioning of the family and its subsystems;
- validated tools for assessing the functioning of the family and its subsystems.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of my course, students should be able to:
- understand and analyze the hallmarks of pathological communication and their effects on system members;
- understand and examine symptoms and pathological functioning of families and couples from a systemic perspective;
- reflect on the application and interpretation of validated tools to understand the complexity of dynamics at play in situations of dysfunction and conflict.

- In-person lectures (20 hours);
- Practical classes on the topics covered (10 hours).
