Learning unit contents

This course is intended to: 1) review methods and tools for assessing family and couple functioning, and 2) introduce intervention strategies and techniques drawn from the main approaches of family and couple therapy. 

Practical work and discussions will be proposed to stimulate reflection on the use, strengths, and limitations of the tools and methods presented.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of my course, students should be able to:

  • gain a basic knowledge of the leading family and couple assessment approaches and instruments;
  • gain a basic knowledge of the leading family and couple intervention techniques;
  • administer family assessment tools and interpret the results in a coherent written report.

  • In-person lectures (15 hours);
  • Practical classes on the topics covered (15 hours).

The written work focuses on a family assessment using the tools presented during the course. The written work will be evaluated.
