Learning unit contents

The course will focus on the notion of "philosophy as a practice" in the Hellenistic and Roman period.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The aim of the course is to analyse through major texts how ancient philosophy was considered as a practice.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

No knowledge of Ancient Greek is required.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

After a general introduction, every session will have the form of a seminar, in which we will read collectively a portion of the text. Students are asked to read the texte beforehand. Some students will be asked successively to prepare a chunck of text.
