Learning unit contents

The course describes the pathologies of the central and peripheral nervous system of children and adults. It addresses their pathophysiology, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The student's objectives are:

  • Learn and understand the physio-pathogenic mechanisms of neurological pathologies
  • Recognize, understand, contextualize and integrate the signs and symptoms of neurological disorders
  • Establish exploration strategy of the major neurological diseases
  • Establish the treatment of major neurological diseases
  • Establish the prognosis of major neurological diseases
  • Know the guidelines of promoting public health

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Co and pre-requisites are detailed in the general Master Medical formation (global course program).
Prerequisite: NERF0130
Corequisites: PATH0029, PATH0030, PATH0031, clerkship, ARC.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

This module is multidisciplinary and consists of lectures, supplemented by several sessions of practical activities. Clinical formations are included in another course code and complete the diagnosis learning by a patient-centered approach.

Emergency principles: comatose and trauma patients care
This course is part of the neuro-osteoarticular module for students of Q9 in M2. It is in the form of a TPP commented in PDF format. It describes the care of the comatose patient and is the first part of the teaching on general principles of emergency and resuscitation.
