Learning unit contents
The subject topic is the notion of determiner (articulus). We will investigate theoretical issues related to this part of speech, as well as its gradual definition in the history of language sciences.
Lectures and selected readings will be focused on:
- its syntactic properties;
- its semantic and pragmatic properties;
- related typological issues.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of the course, for the specific topic, students will be able to:
- know the main properties of the linguistic unit at study;
- compare the different descriptive stances and evaluate their compatibilities;
- evaluate the different descriptive stances.
- understand a linguistic text;
- present a linguistic reasoning;
- present their personal views on a linguistic issue.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
General knowledge of theoretical linguistic notions is required.
