The textbook "Ter Zake" is used to introduce and develop the following subjects :
  • introducing oneself, speaking about one's hobbies, preferences, etc.
  • cultural differences (in business)
  • going to the restaurant
  • how to telephone (for business)
  • making an appointment
  • taking a message
  • preparing and giving a presentation
  • participating in a meeting
  • giving one's point of view
  • negociating
  • preparing one's cv
  • preparing a motivation letter and a job interview
Other authentic documents about scientific subjects will be handed out during the year.

The course objective is to prepare students to business situations in Flanders and in The Netherlands.

All students are automatically enrolled in the iWeG (Interactieve Woordenschat en Grammatica) course on eCampus. These online modules are a valuable addition to the course and allow students to practice at their own pace.

written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions ) AND oral exam


Additional information:

The written exam covers the content of the topics covered in class, basic grammar, reading comprehension and e-mail writing, and mastery of basic vocabulary.
The oral exam covers the topics covered in class, in the form of a discussion and a simulated interview or telephone conversation.

Organizational remarks

Attendance at the course is MANDATORY, whether it takes place face-to-face or by distance learning. A student who is absent for more than 30% of the sessions, with or without justification, is not eligible to sit the examination. This ineligibility applies not only to the first session examination but also to the second session. The student obtains a mark of 0/20.
