Learning unit contents

After an introduction to medieval and post-medieval archeology and its historiography, we will consider a chronological evolution divided into four major periods : early Middel Ages, classical Middel Ages, Modern Times and industrial period. For each, several topics will be studied mainly from the rarchaeological excavations and discoveries from northwestern Europe. The material culture, the structures and the material, of each chronological phases will be seen. Through the different periods, we will focus on specific research subjects in order to highlight the applied methods.

To have an overview about the research in medieval and post-mediaval archaeology as well as on the methods applyed on the field and durind post-excavation work.
