Learning unit contents

EMS part : ISO 14001 standard as case study: history and epistemological, socio-political and technical stakes of environmental management; implementation: actors, methods, practices and pitfalls in and for organization
 
LCA part: This course aims to place life cycle analysis in the scope of environmental assessment tools for management. It includes three parts: LCA stakes and uses, introduction to methodology; elements for a critical reading of a LCA
Part : Studies on Environment Impact Assessment (EIA):
This course aims to inform about the tools of environmental impact assessment and impact studies. The course consists of three parts: historical backgrounds and legislative framework, review of the content and methodology of EIA and critical reading of published examples of EIA

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

LCA PArt
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- to order and afollow up LCA: define information needs about product life cycle; define broad methodological outlines; use LCA results for managerial decision and follow up
- to work in team at a LCA project
Part : EIA
After this course the student will be able to: - Position as sponsor or take active part in an EIA; identify the information needed about a project; define the outline of the process and the EIA table of contents; assess the validity and relevance of an EIA carried out with regards to environmental issues; extract environmental results in a management perspective... - Participate within a team to an EIA.
 
EMS Part: be able to understand implications and theorical and operational limits of environmental management and of a particular normative model; to identify and integrate various stakes in the field; to use methods in real-life EMS implementation process

During this academic year (2021-2022), students have asked to work partly on the "EMS" part of the course using the podcasts.
