Learning unit contents
This unit covers the theory, design and simulation of CMOS integrated circuits. A brief introduction about the technology involved in creating CMOS and basic layout requirements will be presented. Basic functions and architectural circuit blocks will be discussed. We will cover switched capacitor circuits, sample and hold designs, filters, data converters and select advanced architectures. We will also study noise in analogue circuits.

At the end of the course, students will master the basics of integrated CMOS circuit design.

Lectures, tutorials and a group project (VHDL FPGA programming).
There will be no deferred assessment for the project (i.e. the project must be completed during the first session).

Additional information:
The examination will consist of a series of multiple choice questions and/or open questions, and will cover the theory lectures and tutorials. The specific exam format will be discussed during the last lecture. A formula sheet will be appended to the exam and distributed beforehand through "Mes Cours": basic non-programmable calculators will be allowed.
The group project will be evaluated by means of a written report and a live demonstration.
