Learning unit contents
The private comparative law lectures will change subject from year to year. Il will study a legal institution in several legal systems, usually starting with the roman law. It may as well be that the subject is of pure roman law. For 2020-2021, the subject will be : "The legal condition of women in Rome and today".
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course aims to study a legal topic in Roman Law and to compare with the modern situation.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
It is very useful to have had a roman law course before attending this course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is given in the form of a "reverse class". This means that students will present part of the material in groups of two.
The distribution of the groups and the subjects to be presented will take place during the first two classes.
The presentation sessions are organised during the spring (or Easter) holidays. It is mandatory that all students attend these (usually two) presentation days.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Lectures will take place during the second semester in presence of the studients.

Assessment methods and criteria
The quality of the presentations will be decisive for the final mark. An oral examination on all the topics covered in the presentations will allow for adjustments during the examination session.
