Learning unit contents

Description of the teaching unit:
This teaching unit aims to prepare the student to design a digital media literacy activity.
Table of contents:


  • Introduction: Digital media literacy: the skills to be developed in the learner in relation to the current issues at stake;
  • Part 1: Overview of media education sites in a digital environment - Critical observation - Definition of a learning objective - Didactic approach - Notional contents - Choice of materials/resources - Getting the learner active.
  • Part 2: Workshop to design a digital media literacy activity for a teenage audience on a specific topic. Individual follow-up sessions.
 
 
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this unit, the student will be able to design a digital media education activity adapted to an adolescent audience.
 

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Pre-requisites: Block 1 courses.
 

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Oral lectures with student note-taking; case study discussions; workshop and individual follow-up sessions.

Additional information:

The assessment of the course will be based on the oral presentation of a digital media education activity. This presentation will be accompanied by a written report containing the outline, sources and materials.
The evaluation criteria will be

  • on the formal level, the respect of the requirements of an academic work (correct language, coherence, structure, page layout, referencing of sources in the bibliography, etc.);
  • on the content level, the general relevance of the activity with regard to the public and the learning goals, the choice of materials, the selection of notional contents, the didactic approach and the originality.
