Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
The course, delivered in thematic modules, is a continuation of Comfort Course 1A. It focuses on the acquisition and understanding of the theoretical bases in building physics and the physiological parameters related to the feeling of comfort and its dimensioning. Through various examples, it also provides an introduction to the links between comfort, context and architectural design. It will cover hygrothermal, respiratory, visual, acoustic and ergonomic comfort.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, the student will be able to :
- Understand and explain the physiological and physical mechanics of feeling comfort;
- List and explain the different objective parameters of comfort;
- Reasoning about the comfort of a situation with the help of objective data by mobilising basic physical principles;
- Reasoning about the links between comfort and architectural design;
- Understand and explain the links between comfort and energy.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Mastery of basic concepts in physics, biology and chemistry as learned in high school.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is given in the form of interactive face-to-face lectures. Each session will be available as a podcast on eCampus. Forums (one transversal and one per thematic module) are set up on eCampus so that students can ask any question related to the course. These forums operate within a logic of active pedagogy. Students ask questions but also provide answers. Ideally, the teacher only intervenes in the background to validate or redirect the answers provided.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Présentiel
Recommended or required readings
Course materials are made available to students via the eCampus platform. A bibliography adapted to the content of the course, which is recommended but not compulsory, is provided during the sessions.
Assessment methods and criteria
Any session :
- In-person
written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions )
- Remote
written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions )
- If evaluation in "hybrid"
preferred remote
Additional information:
The assessment is carried out by means of an open book written examination, consisting of short or long answer questions and closed questions (true/false, multiple choice, etc.). The assessment focuses on comprehension and the ability to cross-reference course content.
During the first quadrimester, each student who provides a correct answer to a question asked on the Forums (see above) receives half a bonus point. These are added to the examination mark for a maximum of 10% of the overall mark.
