Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

This course includes a theoretical part and a design studio.
The theoretical course teaches integration in the design process of urban contextual, programmatic, environmental, social, regulatory and technical constraints. It describes a design and multi-criteria analysis method based on the concepts of contextuality, coexistence and coherence. The theoretical course is illustrated by various examples of urban design and urban renewal projects.
The design studio aims to integrate the theoretical skills developed into the practice of an urban project. The specificity of the project concerns the scale of the urban block, including the layout plan, the composition of the buildings and the design public spaces.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The course objectives are :

  • Understanding the multidisciplinary issues of urban projects' planning and design.
  • Learning a multi-criteria method for assessing and designing built environments
  • Developing skills in project design by the passage of a building integrated in an urban context to the composition of a complex of buildings and public spaces that connect them.
  • Developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in urban composition

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
