After the description of biochemical mechanism of toxicity of main chemical products, this course is dedicated to the study of action and side effects of drugs, drugs of abuse, volatile substances, heavy metals, pesticides, endocrine disruptors, tobacco,....

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Toxicological chemistry

The goal is to show to the students the multidisciplinarity of toxicolgical sciences.
1.Different chemical products (including drugs and drugs of abuse) which are at risk for human health;
2.Metabolism of xenobiotics, related to toxicity;
3. Monography of main classes of chemical xenobiotics (source of exposure, pharmacokinetics, toxicity)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Practical sessions (12,5 H) are organized in a few sessions by scientific staff of the Service.
The participation is mandatory.
They include more details on official method to quantify alcohol in blood, and in lab visits.
A (written) mandatory examination is organized at the end.
A student with 10/20 will be exempted for 2 years (september and following year).
