Learning unit contents
After the examination of the historical evolution of the attempts European to sit a clean identity as regards European safety, it will be question of examining the structuring and the bodies of this policy sectoral of the European Union. The examination of the various facets of this PESD will be illustrated by the presentation of particular sets of themes sometimes subjacent with the subjects retained like, for examples: - the functioning of ESDP - The Missions - Permanente Structured Coo-peration - the relational transatlantic - European values and security defense - the field of dissuasion - Scenarios.
These various topics will be analyzed starting from the taking into account of factual elements of the actuality and the historical and prospective elements in this very particular sphere, but highly significative, implying in the long term solidarity politico-military and an identity sectoral European
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- To determine the various pluridisciplinary elements which, within the framework of the definition of the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) within the Union and transversely within different intra-European multinational cooperations ad hoc, can be them constitutive bricks, as much as the stabilizing elements with research of a supranational, of a increase in power and a certain decision-making autonomy of the EU in general and the European States in particular in security and strategic sphere of activity. - To support comprehension by the student of the evolution of the relations and of stakes between the European Union and NATO, European Union and UN. - To apprehend the ESDP like a component of the Foreign Affairs which can support diplomatic, political and ethics dimensions of the concepts of security.
