Learning unit contents
The course highlights the centrality of Social and how were formed and transformed our Social states (of the welfare state to the Social State Assets).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- examine various approaches that help them understand and explain the complexity of social issues;
- develop and present a critical perspective on social policy literature;
- define various sociological concepts related to the theories of social issues and policies.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic skills in sociology
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
A number of lectures are given, followed by student presentations which are then analysed with the entire class.
Lectures build upon material the students read at home, and students prepare their oral presentations in small groups

In addition to reference books, students must acquire the various presentations made available on the MyULg portal.
Teachers will also provide articles during class.
