Definitions: Objectives and roles of insects in conservation and management of biodiversity
Biological aspects:
Taxonomical diversity and insect biogeography, parasitology related to conservation
Insect monitoring approaches and biodiversity quantification
Social aspects:
Socio-economical values of insects (pollination, entomophagy, entomophagous beneficials)
Environmental aspects:
Use of bio-indicator insects in relation to biodiversity, management of entomological fauna, focusing on invasive - exotic, rare and extinction species, impacts of climate changes and city development.
Management of entomological diversity and abundance - environmental management
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Understand and better know the challenges in Entomology (Insect Science) in the conservation and management of biodiversity and in the management of natural resources in relation to the socio-economical pressures
