Learning unit contents

The course includes 4 theoretical lessons on the following topics:

  • General introduction and pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1 and TNF systems).
  • Type 1 cytokines and the polarization Th1/Th2/Th17
  • CD4+ T cell populations and regulatory cytokines.
  • Chemokines.
The other lessons are composed by seminars that are presented by the students and are oriented toward the topic of their BSc thesis.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To get an integrated view of the physiological properties of cytokines and chemokines rather than a listing of the distinct molecules.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Knowledge of the general principles of immunology.
