Learning unit contents

The following concepts will be approached with the course :




  • Recalls concerning the health and the promotion of health, the determinants of health and the social inequalities of health.
  • The concept of health Community, its evolution and its definitions. Community like lever of action in health. 
  • The Community approach and its reference marks. Values and principles of a Community   approach. Community, the participation and empowerment, the division of the knowledge and the resources. Stages of the process of intervention. The evaluation of the projects of Community health. 
  • Actors and their practices: illustrations.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will be able : 

  • to understand and explain the various aspects of Community health like its evaluation,
  • to describe and discuss real projects of Community health and to draw some from the lesson and the observations.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

  • Course will ex-cathedra. 
  • Presentation of 2 projects of Community health led in Wallonia and to Brussels.
