Techniques of spinal rehabilitation
Spinal rehabilitation (Dr C. DEMOULIN)
This practical course is directly linked to the theoretical course included in the "spine module" which is about the assessment and management of patients with spinal dysfunction/pain.
This course includes 12 practical sessions (2h) aiming at mastering the techniques described in the related theoretical course as well as favoring clinical reasoning which is necessary to propose the good treatment at the good time to the right patient.
This course is an introduction to the University Certificate in Manual Therapy organized in the Department.
The practical sessions are about:
- ways to handle patients and heavy weigths
- assessment of a patient (subjective examination and objective examination by means of an assessment of the posture, of the active and passive mobility, of the muscle function, of the neurological and neurodynamic function, of the sensori-motor control as well as a palpation examination).
- management of patients with low back pain, thoracic pain, neck pain, a scoliosis, etc.
- management of patients before and after a spine surgery or requiring a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program.
