Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Advanced courses in medical physics.
Computerized dosimetry specialized in radiotherapy
In-depth course detailing the concepts involved in radiotherapy treatment planning.
This includes:
- the description of the theoretical aspects as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the main dose calculation algorithms used to perform the dosimetry of patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment.
- the definition of target volumes (GTV, CTV, and PTV) as well as an in-depth teaching of the calculation of safety margins (more precisely of the PTV)
- an introduction to the clinical and practical issues for the treatment planning of key locations, such as the lung, the head and neck area, breast etc ...
3D tomographical reconstruction
Avanced course on tomography reconstruction.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
See the individual components.
Computerized dosimetry specialized in radiotherapy
Provide theoretical training for the medical radiophysicist in the field of radiotherapy treatment planning.
At the end of this teaching, the student will be able to
- critically analyze dose distributions calculated as a function of the location in the patient and the algorithm used
- accurately calculate PTV margins
- adequately position the role of the physicist in the treatment planning process
3D tomographical reconstruction
