Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This seminar is associated with the discovery internship (YTRA9007-1). It therefore aims at the same learning objectives : allow students to broaden their representations as to the variety of training contexts that a Master of Science in Education may face, as well as the issues that they raise.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The seminar consists of several meeting sessions between the student and the teacher, and between the students themselves. More precisely :
Two group sessions at the beginning of the year to :

  • Know each student's background and their representations regarding the various spheres of education
  • Present the main facets of the Belgian educative system and its history, as well as key concepts related to Education
  • Propose a panel of possible internship categories as well as contact leads
At least one interview between the student and the teacher to discuss the content and form of the environment observed during the internship, as well as the problems encountered. It is possible that several interviews will be scheduled if the student is required to complete several internship.
A group session during the internship to exchange students on common issues highlighted during the interviews with the teacher.
A group session at the end of the year in which each student would present the content of his reflective report, including the evolution of his representations.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Sessions, whether individual or collective, take place face to face.

Organisational adjustments related to the current health context

Recommended or required readings

Recommended readings and course notes will be made available to students on the institutional platform.

Assessment methods and criteria
