Learning unit contents
In connection with ongoing research at the Center of Semiotics and Rhetoric, the seminar will be devoted this year to the theme "Discourses in/about/by the city", from a semio-rhetorical perspective.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Developing thinking about theoretical concepts and methodological tools for the establishment and the criticism of the discourses as they appear in a semiotic variety: written texts, transcriptions, films.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Competence in French language is essential for an appreciation of the complexities of French discourse.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The seminar is organized in two stages:
1. discussion around readings and interventions by the seminar coordinators and guest speakers (1st semester);
2. preparation of the students' works (2nd semester).

Active seminar. Classe attendance is mandatory.

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Additional information:
The seminar ends with a roundtable of individual presentations.
The students are also asked to write a short reflexive summary of the research, and to furnish the materials they used.

- analytic skills

- participation during the seminar.
