Learning unit contents

Translation from Ancient Greek and Greek prose composition. Some chapters from Greek grammar. In-depth analysis of Greek particles. Revision of vocabulary. Chapters on Greek metric. Private reading.

Enhancing students' knowledge of Ancient Greek.

Very good knowledge of Ancient Greek language (grammar, stylistics and vocabulary).

Depending on the health situation, teaching and assessment could be done at distance.
Update of December 11, 2020: the January exam will be a remote oral.

Marcel Bizos, Cours de thème grec, Paris, Vuibert, 1999. ISBN 2-7117-7213-6. Additional course supports will be available on the Blackboard application eCampus. Private reading (Menander's Dyskolos) will be based on the Paris edition by Jean-Marie Jacques, Les Belles Lettres, Collection des Universités de France, 1963.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Additional information:

Tests during the year. Written final exam. Oral examination on the private reading. Written exam on the particles.
Obligation to take each single part of the exam.
The mark of the midterm exam in January will count for 20% of the June final mark if > or = 10/20. The mark will have no effect on the final grade if it doesn't reach 10/20 and the final exam will then be cumulative.
