Learning outcomes of the learning unit

* This course also develops basic language skills, especially the mastery of oral and written English from both the passive and active points of view.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Previous knowledge of CEFRL level A1+ is required.
Beginners can follow evening courses (see ISLV's website: www.islv.uliege.be) or online courses (@LTER).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The reading and listening activities, grammar and vocabulary exercises, and written assignments require weekly preparation work.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
The course is divided into two weekly sessions of
1 hour of intensive grammar classes based on the use of Raymond Murphy's 'English Grammar in Use.'
1 hour of language practice (reading, listening, vocabulary practice, writing and speaking) in small groups.
Weekly preparation work is expected. The work load this represents is variable and depends on the students' level of competence.
You can also practice your grammar skills online on eCampus thanks to GABi, an on-line English grammar course.
We might have to move our classes online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We might therefore transition to a mix of in-person, hybrid, and online classes.
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
In case of code orange/red due to Covid, the grammar and practice sessions will be taught online. The practice sessions might be organized face-to-face provided the orange code allows this. All information will be send by mail if this should be the case.
When it comes to the exams, priority will be given to in-class assessment.
