Learning unit contents

* Study of the main chapters of Dutch grammar
* Study of the vocabulary & exploitation of the contents of texts; lexical and grammatical exercises; speaking and writing exercises
* Listening comprehension exercises

(Level A2-B1)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

* This course develops basic language skills, especially the mastery of oral and written Dutch from both the passive and active points of view.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

A basic knowledge of the oral and written language is recommended.

2 hours a week during the whole year

COURSES
In case of a "yellow" or "orange" alert level, courses will preferably take place in class (applying all required safety measures).
In case of a "red" alert level, classes will take place online.


EXAMS
In case of a "yellow" or "orange" alert level, exams will be held in-person (applying all required safety measures).
In case of a red alert level, all exams will be held online.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Examination in January : 1st part of the vocabulary (Beknopte basiswoordenschat)

The mark of the midterm exam in January will count for 10% of the final mark.
Written an oral examination at the end of the year.
Both written and oral exa.
The oral exam is about one of the topics discussed in class and about an article that students chose in a Flemish or Dutch newspaper. The article must be handed in before end of April.
