Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

This course is actually an introduction to immunopathology, i.e. the study of diseases involving primarily or secondarily an abnormal functioning of the immune system. It constitutes therefore a transition between the course of general immunology of the third quadrimester and the courses of general and specialized pathology which will come afterwards. Unfortunately, the course is given simultaneously to students in biomedical sciences and dentistry, which does not allow an optimal differentiation taking into account the respective learning objectives of each section. Nevertheless, during the lectures and at the examns (which are different for each section, an emphasis will be laid on the mechanistic and molecular aspects (for the students in biomedical sciences) and on more clinical aspects (especially if they concern oral pathology) for the future dentists.
The principal chapters are

  • Immunodeficiencies and HIV infection/AIDS.
  • Allergy and hypersensitivity
  • Autoimmunity
  • Autoinflammation
  • Manipulation of immune responses
