Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Current debates in Prehistory, in particular for the Palaeolithic period. Based on current themes, the course also deals with different theoretical and methodological aspects of prehistoric research and the evolution of cognitive abilities via archaeological artefacts.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Stimulate thought on the potential of archaeological assemblages for understanding long-term changes, human behaviour and cognition, and evolution.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
A basic understanding of (cf. bachelor courses) of Prehistory is preferrable.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Seminars on specific themes or material.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Seminars directed by the professor, her scientific personnel and invited colleagues.
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
Given the current sanitary context, a possibility to attend the course through videocall will be offered to students in quarantine.
If the sanitary context does not permit an oral exam with physical presence, the written paper will form the main basis for the final score. An oral exam will nevertheless take place through videocall according to the same modalities.
Recommended or required readings
Copies of the presentations are available, as well as the main scientific articles relating to the themes discussed.
Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
Evaluation takes place on the basis of the following modalities and criteria:
- active participation in the seminars is taken into account
- a paper will have to be written about a particular topic and this paper will form the basis of an oral exam (exam session in June).
Work placement(s)
