Learning unit contents

This course proposes an overview and an application of the main principles and the most usual techniques used to model how an organization is performing, both from an internal perspective and in an external strategic perspective, independently from its form, still to create or already existing, and to elaborate an innovative value creation strategy able to sustain its performance in a short-, middle- or long-term perspective. It focuses on the one hand on the modelling techniques used to represent an organisation  from an internal and a strategic perspective and on the other hand on the elaboration of an efficient value creation strategy adapted to the design of the organisation, to the values of its owners and to the specificities of its environment. It is composed by 2 different complementary modules : - The first one is dedicated to the modelization of the organiation based on the "Business Model CANVAS" and on the GRP Model, including the identification of its key processes and activities. A special focus is made on the interactions between the organization and its main clients, suppliers and controllers. -The second one is dedicated to the techniques used to model value creation flows and their control (either organizational, commercial, financial or information flows) and to their integration into a coherent value creation strategy formalized by a strategy map.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students are grouped in teams and apply the 4 following steps successively, i.e.
- Presentation of the basic principles of the themes covered during the course : modelization of the Value Chain, with key processes and activities and modelization of the strategy based first on the use of the Business Model CANVAS and then on the GRP Model
- Elaboration of the "Value Chain" and identification of key processes and activities in an organization, including its links with its main customers, suppliers and controllers, followed by a modelization of its strategy in a value creation perspective inspired by the CANVAS model.
- Alignment test of the value creation strategy they proposed with the values of the entrepreneur and alignment test of this strategy with the main characteristics of the environment in which the company is evolving
- Identification and quantification of the Minimal Viable Product to be proposed by the entrepreneur in order to sustain its performance in a short-, middle- and long-term perspective.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

The course is organized in 10 sessions of 3 hours, organised around presentations and/or discussions with every work group.
