Learning unit contents

The following topics will be covered:

  • International Public Affairs
  • Governmental Affairs
  • CSR
A special focus will be set on European Institutions, trade associations and NGOs. In addition, the role of the social media in public affairs activities will be explored.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, students should be able:

  • To understand the social, legal and institutional framework of their organization at national, European and international levels
  • To cope with the societal and political expectations and to adapt their strategies and policies accordingly
  • To develop a consistent Business Model
 
This module will help:
  • Identifying entrepreneurial challenges and opportunities in this framework
  • Taking advantage/ dealing with the environment of the business at large
  • Considering all relevant aspects of the business strategy
Parts of theory will be illustrated by real life case studies in an integrated way. As a study project, students will have to identify their business opportunities and develop an appropriate business model.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

  • Individual participation to selected topics
  • Group presentation of case studies
  • Preparation of case studies (Team work)
  • Understanding Public Affairs as a project (Team work)

Organizational remarks

The seminar will take place at the Kloster Heidberg in Eupen. It will be organized over a weekend from Friday 5pm until Sunday 1pm.
