Learning unit contents
Survey of the evolution of literary genres, study of the major authors and cultural currents in Dutch literature, from 1880 up to 1940.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Familiarizing the students with the history and context of Dutch literature since 1880. Improving the students' literary and cultural competences, and of their understanding of the mechanisms of literary evolution and historiography. Developing the students' analytical skills. Developing the students' capacities to assimilate academic presentations and texts in Dutch.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Good notions of spoken and written Dutch.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Reading of representative text fragments and discussion of significant images.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Duration and period: 30h of theory in the 2nd semester.
Teaching and learning method: lectures.

Oral exam in the June session. Oral evaluation of the compulsory reading in April-May.
