Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
The course includes the following topics: calculation of the viscosity, density and oxygen fugacity of silicate melts; use of geothermobarometry; modelling of magmatic differentiation using major and trace elements; melt inclusions.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Enable students to describe eruptive products and quantify magmatic differentiation
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Geochemistry (GEOL0206-3)
Magmatic petrology and metamorphic petrology (GEOL1035-1 et GEOL1036-1).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
10 lectures of 2H and 7 sessions of exercices (4H).
If necessary, the practical work will be partly replaced by an excursion
or by the reading of an article associated with a presentation.
