Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Study of the sedimentary part of the geological cycle.
- Weathering
- Transport
- Deposition
- Post-sedimentary evolution.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Introduction to sedimentary petrology. The student has to be able to identify the different sedimentary process. A special attention is given to the recognition of sedimentary structures.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
General geology.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures with slides, movies and rock samples.Description and interpretation of different types of sedimentary structures based on rock samples. Fieldtrips: karstic morphologies and littoral sedimentation.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face and online lecture notes.
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
If necessary, the face-to-face sessions will be replaced by distance learning (podcasts) and the oral examination scheduled on Lifesize or a similar platform.
Recommended or required readings
The slides will be available on My ULg after each lecture.
