Organisation and examination
Teaching in the first semester, review in January
Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Survey of the different families of sedimentary rocks and their constituents, with emphasis on the reconstruction of sedimentary environments.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To be able to describe and interpret sedimentary rocks and their depositional environment.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
GEOL0203-2 Processus sédimentaires
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Oral presentations with slides and video. Practical work is based on thin section examination with polarizing microscope. Different sedimentary rocks are described and interpreted.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face.
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
If necessary, the face-to-face sessions will be replaced by distance learning (podcasts) and the oral examination scheduled on Lifesize or a similar platform.
Recommended or required readings
The slides will be available on My ULg after each lecture.

Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
Any session :
- In-person
oral exam
- Remote
oral exam
- If evaluation in "hybrid"
preferred in-person
Additional information:
The oral examination starts with the description and interpretation of 4 thin sections followed by questions about sedimentary rocks and sedimentary environments.
